TV units and media walls made to measure

A TV unit as long as your wall, on legs, on a plinth or hung on the wall, with doors, drawers and open shelves for the router and the console. See it in 3D with an estimated price; a local workshop makes it.

TV units and media walls made to measure

A TV unit for your living room, not the shop floor

A TV stand from a shop comes in a few lengths. The wall between the balcony door and the corner is 2.37 m, the sockets are where the builder put them, and the router needs a place where its lights do not glare. A TV unit made to measure can be any length, as high as suits the sofa, and split into doors, drawers and open shelves the way you use them.

Options

  • On legs, on a plinth, or hung on the wall to keep the floor clear
  • Doors and drawers for what you do not want on show, open shelves for devices that need air and a remote signal
  • With handles, or without, for a plain front
  • Any colour or woodgrain from the range in the designer

A wall-hung unit needs a solid wall: brick and concrete hold it well; on plasterboard the workshop checks first. Tell the workshop where the sockets and aerial point are, so it plans openings for the cables.

TV units and media walls

A media wall here means furniture from wall to wall: the low TV unit with tall cabinets or bookcases on each side, and shelves or wall units above. In the designer you place several pieces on one wall and see them together, with one price. We make the furniture; plasterboard walls and built-in fireplaces are a builder’s job.

Typical sizes

TV unit

Usual size: 40–50 cm high, 40 cm deep, any length

Sideboard

Usual size: 80–90 cm high, 45 cm deep

Bookcases beside it

Usual size: 30–35 cm deep, columns up to 80–90 cm wide

Legs

Usual size: about 10 cm, for cleaning underneath

Sideboards

A sideboard for the dining area is the same idea, taller: two doors with a shelf behind them and a column of three drawers is the usual start, on legs. Made to measure, it can fill the wall under a window or match the TV unit in the next room.

Materials

All pieces are 18 mm melamine-faced chipboard, backs 3 mm board, ABS edging on visible edges, soft-close hinges and drawer runners. Melamine is easy to wipe and does not mark from a hot console or a glass left on top.

How ordering works

  • Measure the wall and start from the TV unit template, or describe it: “TV unit 2.2 m on legs, drawers in the middle”.
  • Change the length, height, doors, drawers, shelves and colour. The estimated price follows.
  • Send the design. A partner workshop checks it, measures, confirms the final price and makes it — delivered and assembled, delivered flat, or collected. You pay the workshop directly.

What to measure

The free length of the wall, the height of the window sill if the unit goes under it, the height of the sockets and aerial point, and the width of the TV and its feet if it will stand on the unit.

Made to measure or ready-made

A ready-made TV stand is cheaper and you can take it home today. If a standard length fits your wall, it is a sensible buy. Made to measure is worth it when you want the wall filled, a particular split of drawers and shelves, or a set with the sideboard and bookcases in one colour.

How it works

  1. 01

    Measure and describe

The width and height of the wall or niche, and what should go there: “a wardrobe with drawers below”, “a TV unit 1.8 m”. A photo helps.

  2. 02

    Design it with the AI

In a minute you see the piece in 3D, open the doors and drawers, change sizes, colours and handles, and watch the price follow.

  3. 03

    A workshop makes it

Send the design. The workshop checks it, comes to measure, confirms the final price and makes it from your drawings.

Questions about TV units

How high should a TV unit be?

Low enough that the middle of the screen is near eye level when you sit. With most sofas a unit 40–50 cm high works; with a wall-mounted TV the unit can be lower.

Can the TV unit hang on the wall?

Yes, the designer can draw it wall-hung. It needs a solid wall; on plasterboard the workshop checks the wall at the measuring.

Can the cables be hidden?

Tell the workshop where the sockets and the aerial point are. It can leave openings in the back and the shelves so cables run behind the unit.

How long should the unit be for my TV?

At least as wide as the TV’s feet if it stands on the unit. Visually, a unit wider than the screen looks calmer; many people make it run the whole wall.

Can I order a sideboard or bookcase to match?

Yes. Draw them in the same design, in the same colour and handles, and they go to the workshop as one order.

Start with a wall and an idea

Two measurements and a sentence are enough. Save the design and come back to it any time.
